How do I create an NTN in Pakistan?

For NTN you can apply online through this website: https://e.fbr.gov.pk, by following the steps given below:
Steps for Online Application:
Step 1:
Go to https://e.fbr.gov.pk to begin the online process.
Step 2:
Select new e-registration from the dropdown of “e-Registration” to begin a new registration application.
Step 3:
Select the application type (New Registration, Change in Particulars’ ST FED Registration, Duplicate Certificate)
Step 4:
Select the taxpayer type (Individual, AOP, or Company)
Step 5:
Enter the CNIC / NTN / Reg. Inc, according to the selected taxpayer type, Name and image character then click ok to proceed.
Step 6:
Already selected category will appear on the next screen (Individual, AOP, and Company).
Step 7:
After the completion of the online registration form, verify and submit the application if you want to apply online. To process from TFC, submit the application along with documents at our TFC counter.
Step8:
A token number will be assigned to the application for further processing/ approval/inquiry. Note: Change in particular can be processed if you are enrolled (for detail, check the enrollment procedure). After login and go to the Registration=> Enrollment=> Change profile and update the information accordingly.

Who is required to furnish Annual Income Tax Return in Pakistan?

Income Tax in Pakistan are applicable according to the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 and being regulated by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The following person need to furnish their Income Tax Return annually as per Section 114 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001:
Every Company;
every person (other than a company) whose taxable income for the year exceeds the maximum amount exempt;
Non-profit Organisations
Welfare Institutions
every person whose income for the year is subject to final taxation
Person has been charged to tax in respect of any of the two preceding tax years
Person claims a loss carried forward
Person owns a land area of five hundred square yards or more or a flat located in the municipal limits existing immediately before the commencement of Local Government laws in the provinces; or areas in a Cantonment; or the Islamabad Capital Territory
Person is owner of a land area of five hundred square yards or more located in a rating area
Person with a flat having covered area of two thousand square feet or more situated in a rating area
Person owns a motor vehicle with engine capacity above 1000cc
Any person having a National Tax Number (NTN)
Person is holder of industrial or commercial electricity connection
Resident person registered with any chamber of commerce and industry or any trade or business association or any market committee or any professional body
Resident person being an individual required to file foreign income and assets statement under section 116A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001

What is the procedure to start an e-commerce business in Pakistan? What kind of government licenses are to be issued and from where?

This brief overview explains, in very general terms, the procedure and requirements for registration of a company in Pakistan. These brief notes are for general guidance only and should not be taken as a substitute for thorough and professional legal advice.
Kinds of Companies which may be Registered in Pakistan:
The following types of companies may be registered in Pakistan:
 A private limited company, which may be a single member company
 A public limited company, which may be listed or unlisted
 A foreign company How to Register a Company in Pakistan? Companies remain the most favored form of business organizations in Pakistan especially for medium and large-scale business enterprises.
Legal regime for establishment and regulation of companies in Pakistan is given in the Companies Ordinance, 1984. Whereas the function of administration of these companies is vested in the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and the Registrar of Companies appointed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan for a Province of Pakistan where such company is to be registered. Under the provisions of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 a company is a corporate body with separate legal entity and a perpetual succession and a company may be formed by persons associating for any lawful purpose by subscribing their names to the Memorandum of Association and complying with other requirements for registration of a company under the provisions of the Ordinance. The Companies Ordinance, 1984 provides three different types of companies:

A company limited by shares
A company limited by guarantee
An unlimited liability company
Further, under the Companies Ordinance, 1984 two types of limited liability companies are provided namely,
a) a private limited company and
b) a public limited company (which may be listed or unlisted).
Any one or more persons associated for any lawful purpose by subscribing their name(s) to the Memorandum of Association and complying with other registration specific requirements of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 may incorporate a private limited company. Provided that where a company has only one subscriber to the Memorandum of Association then such a company is called a Single Member Company, however, a Single Member Company remains a private limited company for all intents and purposes of the Ordinance. Whereas any three or more persons so associated may form a public limited company. A company limited by shares whether a private company or a public company is the most common vehicle for carrying out a business enterprise in Pakistan. Prior approval of the relevant Ministries/Departments is required to be obtained before incorporation of the following companies:  A banking company  A non-banking finance company  A security service providing company  A corporate brokerage house  A money exchange company  An Association not for profit u/s42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 A trade organization u/s 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984
Procedure for Registration of a Company in Pakistan
Following are the requirements for registration of a company in Pakistan:
Step No. 1 for Registration of a Company in Pakistan – Availability of Name: The first step with regard to incorporation of a company is to seek availability of the proposed name for the company from the Registrar. For this purpose, an application is to be made and a fee of Rs.200 is required to be paid for seeking availability certificate.
Step No. 2 for Registration of a Company in Pakistan: Filing of documents required for registration of a private limited company in Pakistan The following documents are required to be filed with the registrar concerned for registration of a private limited company in Pakistan:  Copy of national identity card or passport, in case of foreigner, of each subscriber and witness to the memorandum and article of association.  Memorandum and articles of association – Four printed copes of Memorandum and Articles of Association duly signed by each subscriber in the presence of one witness.  Form 1 – Declaration of compliance with the pre-requisites for formation of the company.  Registration/filing fee – A copy of the original paid Challan in the authorized branches of Habib Bank Limited or a Bank Draft/ Pay Order drawn in favor of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan of the prescribed amount.  Authorization by sponsors – The authorization of sponsors in favour of a person to make good the deficiencies, if any, in memorandum and articles of association as may be pointed out by the registrar concerned and to collect the certificate of incorporation Documents required for registration of a Single Member Company in Pakistan Any person may form a single member company and would file with the registrar at the time of incorporation a nomination in prescribed form indicating at least two individuals to act as nominee director and alternate nominee director, of the company in the event of his death. All requirements for incorporation of a private limited company shall mutatis mutandis apply to a single member company. Documents required for registration of an association not for profit in Pakistan All the documents meant for incorporation of a limited company along with a license issued by the SEC. In case of a trade body, a license issued by the Ministry of Commerce would also be submitted to the registrar concerned. The application for obtaining the requisite license from the Commission should be accompanied by draft memorandum and Articles of Association, list of promoters, bio-data of each promoter, declaration, names of companies in which the promoters of the proposed association hold any office, estimates of annual income and expenditure and brief statement of work already done or to be done.

How long is the NPO registration?

NPO registration is valid for one year and a certificate of registration will be issued for one year. An application for renewal of the certificate of registration should be made no later than one month after the certificate expires.

How can we get an Amazon seller account in Pakistan? Now there is a big news for every Pakistani that Pakistan is in the Amazon approved list from 2021.

According to a report from the news agency IANS on May 8, the US e-commerce giant Amazon included Pakistan in its list of sellers. Specifically, this move will become a major thrust for the development of Pakistan’s e-commerce industry, creating rich opportunities for exporters. Pakistanis can sell products on the Amazon platform and apply the 3p model for product marketing. Amazon will also provide a 1P model for large-scale manufacturers willing to supply Amazon brands.

Pakistani Minister of Commerce Razak Dawood announced the news on Twitter. “We started contacting Amazon last year, and now we are successful. Amazon will add Pakistan to the list of sellers in the next few days.” For brands and companies that have been selling overseas, as well as young, small and medium-sized and female entrepreneurs, This is a golden opportunity. In the future, more companies and online buyers will have access to Pakistani brands.
Other points:
1. Gu revealed that Amazon will open up seller registration for Pakistani companies in the next few days.
2. Experts said that B2C and B2B2C cross-border e-commerce models will be popularized as a new format in Pakistan.
3. At present, the main products sold by Pakistani sellers with overseas offices include textiles, sporting goods, leather and surgical supplies.
4. To take full advantage of this opportunity, Pakistan Post has started its automation process to prepare for the delivery system.
5. In addition, the Intellectual Property Organization has also accelerated the trademark registration process.

Are Pakistan trademarks protected from international infringement?

Trademark will be registered in Pakistan only not around the whole world.
Trademark registration can be done yourself in Pakistan.
It includes following simple processes
1- prepare a pay order of 300 PKR for the search of your brand name and logo in the relevant class in one of the IPO offices based in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad
2- After the availability of the brand name and logo, prepare another pay order of 3000 PKR with the TM-1 form.
3- After filling TM-1 form properly, you will attach 9 logos with the 9 photocopies of the TM-1 form ( 1 original form and 8 copies)
4- You will submit this complete file in one of the IPO offices
5-After submission, you will get a receipt of your payment order and receiving on the TM-1 form
6-Within 1 month, you will get your trademark number
7- After the examination of your application of 6 months, if your brand passes from examination, your brand will be published yo a journal.
8-If no one opposes your brand, a demand notice will be issued to you.
9-After the submission of the 9000 PKR pay order, you will receive your certificate

Do we need a copyright registration before self-publishing?

The term “Self-publishing” itself gives proof of your ownership. So, you don’t need to worry about copyright as it already exists in your original work. So, registration is not mandatory. However, it is always advisable to get it registered as Legal Proof of your Authorship.
