A Director has left, a new CEO has joined and a Company Secretary has changed their address.
All of these require a notice of change to be provided to the SECP.
This guide will explain what Form 29 (or Form 9) is and how to complete it online.
What is a Notice of Change of Directors?
As set out in Section 197 of the Companies Act 2017, a company must notify the registrar of any changes to their directors, chief executive and other officers.
In the past, this would have been completed on a Form 29. However, under the Companies Regulations, 2024, this is now completed using a Form 9. This can still however be referred to by many as a Form 29.
What needs to be included?
- Appointments of a new director or Chief Executive
- Resignations/Removals of a director
- Death of a director
- Changes to officers’ details (name, address, nationality, etc.)
- Other changes to officers (Company Secretary, CFO, Auditor or Legal)
Timeframe
- The return must be completed within 15 days of the change.
- 15 days from the date of appointment, resignation, or change.
Why?
- To make sure that the right people are on the SECP register.
- Banks, FBR and Counterparties will look to SECP.
- If a director has resigned but is listed on the register, they could remain exposed.
- Late submissions will be subject to extra fees and may be judged.
Documents Required
Before starting your submission, make sure you have the following documents.
Outgoing Director
- Signed and dated letter of resignation or death certificate/removal order/resolution.

Late Submission
Additional fees are incurred by the SECP if you are late. The fees are a multiple of the standard fee and depend on how late you are.
- If it is only a short delay then you will incur a slight additional fee.
- However, If it is a year or more then you will incur several multiples of the standard fee.
- Long delays can result in adjudication.
The sooner you realise you have missed a change the sooner you can complete the submission. The longer you leave it the more expensive it becomes.
Status of Submission
The submission will be sent to the registrar at the Company Registration Office (CRO) for your company.
Then they’ll either approve it or want more details.

Once processed, you can download a copy of the return.
