What is an NTN?
A National Tax Number identifies a taxpayer registered with the Federal Board of Revenue.
Individuals
Individuals use their 13-digit CNIC for tax purposes, so they do not look up a separate NTN.
Companies and AOPs
Companies and associations of persons have their own NTN. This is what the directory finds.
Sales tax
A sales tax registration is separate. See our guide on STRN vs NTN.
Need an NTN for your business?
We register NTNs, correct FBR profiles and file returns for individuals and companies. Send us a message and we will tell you what is needed.
I can’t find my company
A missing company is not always a problem. Work through these.
Try fewer words
Search a short, distinctive part of the name, for example the first word.
Check the spelling
Use the spelling on the registration. Try “Pvt” and “Private”, or “Ltd” and “Limited”.
It may not be on the list
The directory only holds companies on the latest Income Tax ATL. A new or non-filing company may be missing.
Name differs
The registered name can differ from the trading name. Try both.

Frequently asked questions
What is an NTN?
A National Tax Number identifies a taxpayer registered with the Federal Board of Revenue. Individuals can use their CNIC, while companies and associations of persons are issued an NTN.
How do I find a company’s NTN by name?
Type at least three letters of the company name into the search box. Matching companies appear as you type, each with its NTN. Press Copy to copy a number.
Why can’t I find my company?
Try fewer words, check the spelling used on the registration, and try both the registered name and the trading name. The company may also be missing from the latest list.
Does the directory include individuals?
No. It covers companies and associations of persons on FBR’s Income Tax Active Taxpayer List. Individuals use their CNIC.
Does it include government departments?
No. Government departments, DISCOs and foreign missions are not part of the published taxpayer data this directory uses.
Is this the official FBR directory?
The data comes from the list FBR publishes, but this is our own search tool, not an FBR page. For an official record, confirm on FBR’s portal.
How often is the data updated?
Our copy is refreshed every day. The date of the last update is shown under the search box.
Can I check whether a company is active?
Yes. Use the ATL Verification tool with the NTN to see whether it is on the Active Taxpayer List.
What is the difference between an NTN and an STRN?
An NTN is the income tax registration number. An STRN belongs to sales tax registration. Our guide explains the difference.
Do you save what I search?
No. The names you type are used to search the stored list and are not saved. The site only keeps a short-lived request counter for each visitor, to stop automated abuse.
