How to Login to FBR IRIS (NTN Login) – Step-by-Step Guide 2026

If you’ve ever tried logging into IRIS and gotten stuck on a blank white screen or an “invalid credentials” error for no obvious reason, you’re not alone — it’s one of the most common calls we get from clients. Here’s how the login actually works, and where people usually go wrong.

Where to Log In

Go directly to iris.fbr.gov.pk — not “e-fbr.gov.pk” or any older bookmark you might have saved years ago. FBR retired the old e-FBR portal a while back and IRIS 2.0 is now the only login that matters. The login box sits on the right side of the homepage with two fields: CNIC/NTN and Password, plus a small notice above them that says “Save your work periodically — User may log out, if idle.” Take that seriously; IRIS times out sessions faster than most government portals, and if you’re mid-way through filing a return, an idle timeout can quietly log you out without warning.

Logging In, Step by Step

  1. In the CNIC/NTN field, type your 13-digit CNIC with no dashes (this trips up more people than anything else — “12345-1234567-1” will fail; “1234512345671” works).
  2. Enter your Password — the one you set when you registered, or the last one you reset it to.
  3. Click LOGIN.
  4. You’ll land on the IRIS dashboard, where the top menu bar gives you access to Registration, Declaration, Assets Declaration, Rectification, Appeals, Refund, Withholding/Advance Tax, Payments, and a few other modules depending on your taxpayer category.

Forgot Your Password?

Click “Forgot Password / Account Recovery” directly under the password field. You’ll need the CNIC/NTN and access to whatever mobile number or email is on file with FBR — the reset code goes there, not to whatever number you’re using today if you’ve since changed SIMs. This is genuinely the number one reason people get stuck: they changed their phone number two years ago, never updated it on their FBR profile, and now can’t receive the OTP. If that’s your situation, it needs to be fixed through profile correction (or with a consultant’s help) before any password reset will work.

A Few Things We See Constantly

  • “Invalid credentials” on a password you’re sure is right — almost always the CNIC format (dashes) or a leading/trailing space pasted in from somewhere.
  • OTP never arrives — the registered number is dead, roaming, or belongs to a SIM that’s since been reassigned by the mobile operator (common if it’s been years since registration).
  • Portal is painfully slow or the page just spins — this genuinely happens FBR-wide in the days before a filing deadline, when server load spikes. It’s not your connection.
  • You never actually set a password yourself — if a consultant registered you years ago and you’ve never personally logged in, “Forgot Password” is still your way in; the account exists even if you’ve never touched it.

Registering for the First Time

None of the above applies if you don’t have an NTN at all yet — there’s no login to recover if the account was never created. We handle full NTN registration and IRIS profile setup for clients so this is a non-issue from day one. See our NTN Registration Services in Pakistan page.

What Comes Next

Once you’re in, most people are here to either file a return (our return-filing guide) or pull up their registration certificate — for that, see how to verify and download your NTN/FBR certificate, which uses IRIS’s separate public “Verifications” tool and doesn’t even require logging in.

If you’re stuck on any of this and would rather have someone just handle it, reach out to us — recovering locked accounts and dealing with IRIS’s quirks is something we do every week.
