How You Get It
The certificate is issued automatically once SECP approves your incorporation application — after name reservation, submission of the Memorandum and Articles of Association, and payment of the prescribed fee. Nearly every downstream step of running a business requires this certificate: opening a company bank account, registering for an NTN with FBR, applying for a sales tax registration, signing contracts as the company, and satisfying due-diligence requests from clients, investors, or lenders who need proof you’re a legitimate registered entity.
How to Verify a Company’s Registration
SECP maintains a public search facility where anyone can verify a company’s registration status, incorporation date, and current status (active, dormant, or struck off) using the company name or registration number. This is worth checking before doing business with an unfamiliar company, not just when verifying your own registration.
Lost or Need a Duplicate Certificate?
If you’ve misplaced your original certificate, SECP allows you to request a certified copy through its eServices portal rather than starting registration over — the company’s legal existence isn’t affected by a lost physical or digital copy of the certificate itself, since the registration record remains on SECP’s system.
